How to speed up my old PC/Laptop?

Speeding up computers is an easy task; you just need to focus on some common things that need to be fixed here. I divided the process into parts so that you can follow it easily.

  • Deleting Unnecessary Applications

Deleting unused applications meaning cleaning garbage from your computer. Deleting unnecessary applications is the key to speed up the computer

Solution:

Open up your Control panel, then go to the following location "programs>programs and features" then the list of installed applications open from that list see and uninstall applications that are not needed by you

Control Panel

  • Deleting Temporary Files

Many files are hidden by us, and also these are unnecessary, which consumes a lot of storage without any means, so deleting those files will boost the PC performance. Here are the locations of the temp files which needs to be deleted

  • %temp%
  • temp
  • prefetch

Delete files from these locations speed up your computer by 10% by just doing that. Don't forget to delete files from recycle bin also.

Fact

You cannot be able to find these locations manually. Press the win key + R key simultaneously to open the run command and type these commands there.

  • Antivirus Software

It is a bitter truth that every antivirus software slows down the PC, whether paid or free. It will slow down the computer. The only solution is to uninstall the antivirus software because it is the biggest enemy of your old and low-end computer.

If you talk about then which antivirus we have to use for our low-end PC, then you might don't need to want this because old hardware hardly running the Windows 7, which is even heavier for it, so if your PC is old, then don't use any kind of antivirus software.

  • Keep storage space free.

IF your drive is running out of space in which Windows is installed, then free up some space in your hard drive to keep up the PC faster because if the storage is full, then some of the windows functions did not work correctly due to insufficient space.

Always keep at least 4 GB free for your windows to work properly and feel a smoother experience.

  • Check Drive for errors.

Probably checking the drive for error is a good option because sometimes files get corrupted, which causes the Windows to slow down. To check the drive for errors, open up file explorer, right-click on the partition in which Windows is installed, and then click on the properties. Then on the tools tab on that tab, you find the option called to check. Now click on it and start.

check drive

after that, it starts checking for errors and repair it automatically or prompt you for whether to ignore the errors or to repair it in some cases it asks you to restart for error checking if this happened then click on restart

  • Changing power plan

Changing power plan to performance also increases the performance of windows because it sets the Windows for better optimizations, but if you are using a laptop, then it will drain your battery fastly.

To change the power plan open, the control panel then go to Control Panel\System and Security\Power Options from there, choose high performance either from the list but if the high performance not showing, then click on additional settings then choose high performance.

  • New Windows

If after trying all the upper options did not work for you, then there is the last option of installing the new Windows but download it from the below link because it is a modified version of Windows 7

It consumes fewer resources and does almost every task. Good to give the old machine a new life. I also use that version of Windows and writing this article using my 14-year-old laptop without any issue. It is only available for 64-bit systems. If your system is 32-bit, then wait for it to be available; I will update it as soon as available.

Nexus Lite OS 7 x64 bit.rar 1.15GB
Windows 7 32-bit.iso 655MB

Conclusion

After reading this article, the user will speed up the old computer that is too old to run the latest versions on their old machine. Hope so it will resolve your PC running slow issue. If you doubt PC running slow, please contact me at everypcsolution@yahoo.com or at 008abdullahshah@gmail.com.
